Weather Alerts

An Alert from the Church Office
Good afternoon, Church Family. As the winter weather season continues, we wanted to share a quick reminder about how weather-related decisions are made for the church office. When Prince George’s County Public Schools are closed or delayed due to weather conditions, the St. Matthew’s church office will follow the same schedule. This helps ensure consistency and allows us to prioritize the safety of our staff and community. From the PG County Public Schools website: Weather Announcement Plans Process. When it snows or the roads are icy, the best advice is to listen to the radio or watch the television news for school closings or delays.  ·   The Superintendent generally makes decisions concerning early morning school closings or delayed openings prior to 5 a.m.·   An announcement is then provided to 38 radio stations and eight (8) television stations in the Washington metropolitan area. The goal is to contact the stations in time for early morning broadcasts that begin between 5 and 6 a.m. ·      Watch PGCPS TV on Comcast Channel 96 or Verizon FIOS Channel 38. Ways to Stay Informed·   PGCPS website (www.pgcps.org)·   Social media sites (facebook.com/pgcps, Twitter, and Instagram: @PGCPS)·   PGCPS-TV (Channel 96/38)·   Local media outlets for updates·   PGCPS Weather Line 301-952-6000 (option “1”. If PG County Schools announce an early dismissal or closure, the church office will close accordingly. During office closures, we are unable to monitor the church voicemail system. The administrator email account will be monitored on a limited basis, and responses may be delayed. Any additional impacts to church programming or worship services will be communicated separately, as needed, by the Trustees and Communications teams. As always, thank you for your understanding and flexibility, especially during unpredictable weather.
