United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is the humanitarian arm of the United Methodist Church. UMCOR has been Relieving Human suffering for More than 80 years. UMCOR’s work reaches people in more than 80 countries, including the United States.
St. Matthew’s supports UMCOR in several ways:
- Each March, St Matthew’s observes UMCOR Sunday.
- St Matthew’s Mission Central Outreach and DRT HUB supports UMCOR by making, collecting and delivering UMCOR Kits and other needed items to Mission Central. Mission Central partners with UMCOR on disaster relief, and is the largest of seven warehouses within the UMCOR Disaster Relief Network.
- UMCOR donations can be given by check to SMUMC or online via One Time Gift by specifying UMCOR or UMCOR Disaster Relief. Donations will go to Biggest Need. If you want to contribute to a specific cause, please go to the UMCOR Gives website to donate directly to your preferred cause. Note: UMCOR Received Top Rating from CharityWatch (May 2024).
