Global Ministries Advances/Missionaries

Logo of Global Ministries, The United Methodist Church, featuring a black cross and red flame symbol on a light blue background.

St. Matthew’s is committed to supporting Global Ministries missionaries and advance projects. Working together with other UMCs, we can have a better and more sustained impact in an area of need. Furthermore, Advance is an accountable, designated giving arm of the United Methodist Church that ensures 100% of each gift reaches its intended mission or ministry. Advance fulfills both physical and spiritual needs through a variety of partnerships in the US and worldwide to reach mutual goals that make a life-changing and long-lasting impact.

As we move forward with SHEEP, we will be evaluating the best way to support missionaries and advance projects that align with our initiatives and where God is calling our church to show up.

For further information or to volunteer or donate, contact worldwideoutreach@stmatthews-bowie.org or missions@stmatthews-bowie.org.

Advance Projects/Ministries

St Matthew’s has supported several Advance projects and ministries through the years. Our biggest is United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). Others include Appalachia Service Project, Give Ye Them To Eat (Mexico), CROP Hunger Walk and Society of St. Andrew.

Missionaries

St Matthew’s has supported 4 missionaries for many years. However, with recent retirement of three missionaries we are currently only supporting one.

Global Ministries missionaries witness and serve in different locales and cultures, and engage in a range of professions and activities. They are a tangible connection between the church and mission.
