In Summer 2023, St. Matthew’s established a native plant garden in front of the church and the Prince George’s County Audubon Society certified the site. With the care and each new upgrade the garden receives from the St. Matthew’s community, the garden grows in beauty! Please join us in the future as new weeds pop up or other care and attention is needed. For further information or to volunteer, contact earthcare@stmatthews-bowie.org
A Garden is a symbol of HOPE and FAITH in God’s creation: All GOD’s creatures depend upon plants to survive. Maryland’s wildlife cannot survive on just any plant. They require native (sometimes very particular) plants to thrive and to protect, feed, and host their young. Native plants are essential to the survival of the species we love. This landscape was designed to affirm a mutually sustaining natural environment for people and pollinators. You’ll be able to do the same around your home. Just pick the right plants.
