Supporting, Helping, Empowering Every Person (SHEEP) is how St. Matthew’s shares our compassion through our Missions, Social Justice and Outreach Ministry. This ministry helps our church live out its missions statement to be an Inclusive Community, Connecting in Christ, Making a Difference.

We welcome everyone to participate in all our SHEEP activities. Come join us! Contact sheep@stmatthews-bowie.org for more information.

God’s love and grace lead us as individuals and the church to show His love and grace to everyone. As United Methodist, we are “to recognize, absorb, and live out the love of God in order to tear down barriers of injustice and seek bold ways to change the lives of those around us – this is how we make disciples of Jesus Christ to transform the world” (Dr Ashley Boggin Dreff, 2022). Watch her Understanding Our Spiritual Goal as United Methodist video or read its transcript to learn more.

SHEEP’s primary goal is to share the love and grace of Christ with God’s people through sharing and showing love by respecting others and showing kindness, patience, and faith in all circumstances. Our church helps people in their times of need, raises up the poor, fights for the marginalized, and brings new life to the weary and downtrodden.

As one flock of SHEEP,  we all want to follow Christ, our Good Shepherd (John 10: 11-18 NIV) to do all we can to care for others with our support, help, and empowerment. It is only with all of us working together under our Good Shepherd’s lead that we can be His loving hands and feet in our community and beyond.

If you you would like to participate in a SHEEP activity, help with SHEEP planning or have any questions, then please contact us at sheep@stmatthews-bowie.org.
