Rev. Ginger Gaines-Cirelli

Life Story, in brief: Rev. Gaines-Cirelli is a native of Oklahoma and was raised in First United Methodist Church in Sapulpa, OK. She did her undergraduate work in Religious Studies at the United Methodist-affiliated Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Following graduation from Southwestern, she entered the Yale University Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut where she received her Masters of Divinity in 1996.Rev. Gaines-Cirelli has served the Church all her life and has been working on staff of churches since 1992. Her work has included Christian Education, Youth Ministry, and Liturgical Arts. Before being appointed as pastor of St. Matthew’s UMC, Rev. Gaines-Cirelli served as pastor of Francis Asbury UMC in Rockville, MD, Capitol Hill UMC in Washington, DC, and Bethel and St. Mark’s UMCs in Staten Island, NY.Ginger enjoys gardening, yoga, poetry, the National Gallery of Art, theological conversation, ice cream, hiking, skiing, travel, beaches, and going barefoot. She is married to Anthony, who received his Ph.D in systematic theology from the Catholic University of America and now works at the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops.  They live in Washington, D.C. with their cat, Annie Rose, and their dog, Harvey.
