NEW RESOURCE FOR MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES
A recent search for medical equipment, especially a knee scooter, led me to a new mission in Millersville, MD, called the “Orphan Grain Train.” That’s a funny name for a mission that has a 6300 square foot warehouse full of medical equipment and post-disaster supplies. They had a knee scooter that is loaned to me free of charge under their “Medical Walk Out Program.” Their warehouse in Millersville is loaded with all kinds of medical equipment, including hospital beds, motorized wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, Hoyer lifts, and much more. All equipment is available, free of charge. All they ask is that when you no longer have a need for the medical equipment, that you return it to them or donate it to someone else in need. So, if you or your neighbor need any medical equipment, call them at 410-544-1621, or visit their warehouse at 621 East-West Blvd, Millersville, MD 21108 (Off Veterans Highway; Exit 10 on I-97). They are open from 10 am to 1 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and some Saturdays. Orphan Grain Train (OGT) is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that is staffed entirely by volunteers at the Millersville facility. However, they have other expenses that include
maintaining their large warehouse and maintaining trucks necessary to pick up and transport donated items. Lastly, and the biggest expense, is shipping costs for donated goods sent domestically and overseas. Monetary donations are always welcome, and they can be made online at www.ogt.org/md You can also donate any used medical equipment or supplies. OGT also has volunteers who gather and receive clothing and relief supplies for destitute people around the world. They also raise money to send to those relief goods where most needed. Some relief supplies are shipped to mission partners in other countries, where they are distributed to orphanages, schools, and hospitals. Supplies have also been sent to natural disaster sites in the US and other countries. For more information, check out their website at: www.ogt.org/md.
