This Sunday we honor those who work in the health and healing fields. Take a moment to thank our guests. Come down to Fellowship Hall for a reception after the service. Next Sunday, November 8, we will celebrate our defenders – those who serve in the defense of our country, past or present. Please take a postcard on your way out to invite someone to join us to be acknowledged or to thank those who have served.
Final Crop Walk Donations Due Now
Please turn in all remaining CWS/Crop Walk donations to the church main office by9:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 1. The final submission to CWS/Crop Walk will be mailed out on Monday.
UMW Annual Craft Show
The United Methodist Women will hold their annual craft show on Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Home-baked goods (nothing store bought, please) are requested from the congregation at large. Please leave them in the kitchen (marked “UMW”) on Friday, November 6, for pricing. When appropriate, please note whether items contain nuts. Then come enjoy shopping with all our wonderful crafters. Mayoral Candidate Forum
Meet with candidates for mayor of Bowie at a mayoral candidate forum this Sundaybeginning at 1:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Bowie’s Mayor Fred Robinson and his major opponent Councilman Dennis Brady will participate in a discussion of issues affecting the future of Bowie. This is an opportunity for Bowie residents to meet the candidates for mayor and learn of their ideas and plans for the city. Local elections are perhaps more important to residents than national elections since elected official’s decisions are made that directly affect our lives every day.
Advent Study Begins

Communion Sunday Home Visits
Beginning on November 1, we will resume the practice of having communion brought to those people who cannot attend services. If you are interested in being one of the ministers who take communion to people, or if you know someone who might want to have such a visit, please contact Isaac via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Christmas Greenery Sale
Boy Scout Troop 1249 will be selling beautiful, fragrant, evergreen wreaths, swags, garland and centerpieces. Orders will be taken after each service on Sunday, November 1 and 8. The greenery will be handmade to order and available for pick up on December 6 after both services. Payment is due when the order is placed. Call Matthew McGowan at 301-464-0560 for more information.
Prince George’s County Men’s Homeless Shelter Meal
Would you, your family or group like to provide a meal in 2016? St. Matthew’s provides the evening meal to the men at the PG’s County Men’s Homeless Shelter the third Sunday of each month.
