Our faith formation journey begins with our parents or guardian at home and when they bring us to church, the nursery, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. The church partners with families in raising their children in the faith and pledges at each baptism to surround them in a community of love and forgiveness that they may grow in their faith.
Children in Worship
Sunday Worship at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m.
Children are welcome to attend worship services and participate. Children’s bulletins (one for ages 3-6 and one for ages 7-12) and worship activity bags are available from the ushers. The bright yellow brochure The ABC’s of Children in Worship (available in the narthex alcove or click HERE) will help families guide your children as you participate in worship together. A parent/guardian is welcome to come forward with your child for the Children’s Message during worship.
The first step of faith development is formed during our early years as we learn to trust other adults to nurture and care for us. For that reason, our rooms for young children have a team leader who is with us each week and leads the activities. Volunteers assist as scheduled by the session. Two rooms are available for younger children during worship. A parent or guardian must sign children in and out in each room.
Nursery I – For infants, toddlers & two’s
Preschool Pray School – Children age two and potty trained through Kindergarten are encouraged to start in worship and come to this room after the Children’s Message. Preschool Pray School engages young children in age appropriate Bible stories and activities. A parent/guardian must sign child in and sign child out when getting child after worship.
*Note to families: Each child matures differently. If your child is ready or not for the suggested group, you are invited to come, see what group best meets your child’s needs and be in conversation with the team leader and Director of Christian Formation regarding placement.
Children’s Sunday School Classes at 9:45 a.m.
All are welcome to attend beginning on any Sunday. Please register your children, when they first attend, using the Sunday School Registration form available in the classroom. Children attend same class that they attend in preschool/school. Young children attend the class for the age that they are by September 01, 2015. Please bring your children to their room at 9:45 and get them at 10:45.
Nursery I – For infants and toddlers
Our nursery caregivers introduce Christian concepts using the Babies and Waddlers Ministry Guide. Through songs, scripture, finger plays, faith words and phrases and posters, young children will begin on their faith journey to learn, know and experience God and Jesus.
Preschool Two’s – Children who are two years old learn some of the most significant Bible stories through movement, songs, art activities and, more. Each week the children take home a Bible story picture card so parents or guardians can retell and reinforce the Bible story at home.
Our new Deep Blue awe-inspiring United Methodist curriculum invites children to set sail on a grand adventure as they come to know the wonders of God’s love through lessons that cover the Bible over a three-year period and include the stories of Christmas, Holy Week, Easter and Pentecost annually. Children will explore the Bible in fun, age-appropriate ways that capture their attention and ensure that God’s message is taken to heart. They will develop the skills to unlock the Bible message and grow deeper in their faith. Children will bring home the Deep Blue Family Devotions for each day to help reinforce the weekly lesson and use the Deep Blue app to see the videos together.
Preschool Three’s, Four’s, Kindergarten, and First Grade – Colorful kid’s books, videos, music, sign language and other activities engage and encourage children to “dive deep” into the Bible and explore the wonders of God’s world.
Second,Third, Fourth & Fifth Grade -Children will gather in a large group for the video, Bible story, music, and movement, then break into two age-level small groups to dig deeper and apply the story to their daily lives and come to know the depths of God’s love.
