This Fall’s focus is on prayer as foundation for a healthy life. We will be using the book, Living the Lord’s Prayer by David Timms.
Game Plan for Life, Part 1: Wednesdays 7:30-9:00 p.m., September 16 – October 21, Room 224
A 6-week experience to help tackle the key areas of life a man must grasp in order to be victorious. Based on a national survey of 700 men as well as the book by Hall-of-Fame Coach Joe Gibbs. Part 1 focuses on Finances, God, Creation, The Bible, Sin, Addiction and Salvation.
Jesus in the Gospels: Thursdays 9:15-11:45 a.m., September 17 – April 28, Room 223
This 30-week study invites believers to look at Jesus in each of the four Gospels and ask the question, “Who is the Jesus that you see?” Study the names, the places and the people – and encounter the Jesus who is portrayed in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Gospel of John: Mondays choose 9:15-11:15 a.m. or 7-9 p.m., September 21- December 21, Room 222
John’s Gospel offers spiritually attuned, stunningly beautiful insights into the nature of Jesus and the meaning of faith. Witness signs and wonders, view contrasts of darkness and light, blindness and sight, death and life. Curriculum written by Carol Miller!

This class is currently studying the book of Psalms using John Craghan’s Psalms for All Seasons. The format of the class is conversational and allows participants to “drop in” as they are able – in other words, come when you can!

The “Angel Gang”: Tuesdays, 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Room 126
This group’s mission is to draw on their common experiences as they assist others who are faced with challenges to their wellness. The group’s focus is laughter, fellowship, and story-telling. Everyone is welcome.
All are welcome to help lead worship though music. Choirs rehearse mostly during the school year in Room 124.

Disaster Response Team (DRT):

M & Ms: First Monday of the month; 9:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Room 223
Merry Methodists Meet Mondays Monthly for Missions (except July and August). Our various projects include assembling/verifying health kits, flood buckets, school bags, Children’s Ministries’ Easter and Sunday School projects, Christmas projects, cards for Mission Central, and emergency projects as they arise. All are welcome. Bring a sandwich for lunch. Dessert, coffee, tea, friendship and humor provided. Drop in when you can.
Men’s Breakfast Bunch: Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m. Location: Rip’s in Bowie
All men are welcome to drop in for breakfast and fellowship. This is not a Prayer Breakfast, but we always start with prayers for those who need “lifting up.” This accountability group routinely reaches out to serve the needs of the church and community.
Musical Theatre Troupe:
St. Matthew’s Musical Theatre Troupe is a nonprofit organization dedicated to musical-theater production and performance for the benefit of the community. Two fully staged musical-theater productions have been presented each year since 1996. Watch for audition and performance information.
United Methodist Men:
For over 50 years our goal has been to provide a venue where men can express their love of Jesus Christ in meaningful ways, defining the role of Christian men in contemporary society. UMM meetings are held quarterly on Sundays, Nov. 1, Jan. 10, and Apr. 24 with lunch at 12:30 p.m. and a program at 1:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. All men are invited to join us and help us build a men’s ministry.

St. Matthew’s Family Camping Weekend: Columbus Day Weekend
Join your St. Matthew’s Family for a camping weekend October 9-12 at the United Methodist Camp Harmison near Berkeley Springs, WV. Bring your own accommodations: tent, RV or Camper and provisions. Come Friday afternoon and return Sunday or Monday. Bring a dish to share for the Saturday evening potluck. Enjoy the serene surroundings along the banks of Sleepy Creek with your family and explore the area. Everyone is welcome. Watch for more information.
