Faith formation is a lifelong journey. St. Matthew’s offers small groups and classes for all ages to help you grow in your faith and as a disciple of Jesus Christ, no matter where you are on your journey.
We offer classes during Sunday mornings (See Sunday School section below) and other times during the week (See links for more information and Weekday Opportunities below).
Small Group Invitation
Methodists are people of devotion and small groups help people grow in their devotion. St. Matthew’s invite everyone to be a part of a small group. Small groups of all types invite people into personal and communal relationships with each other and Jesus Christ and help people live as Christians making a difference. Fellowship, sharing joys and concerns, praying and caring for others is part of all types of small groups. To learn more information click here for our small group invitation that will help you find a small group.
All are welcome to attend beginning on any Sunday morning. Christian formation opportunities are provided for infants through adults on Sunday mornings from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m.
Everyone is invited to learn more about God and live into our call to become disciples of Christ. We ask that all participants in our ministries register using this form so that we can communicate with you.
Children’s Sunday School
Children attend the same class that they attend in preschool/school. Young children attend the class for the age that they are by September 01, 2015.
Nursery I – For infants and toddlers – Using the Babies and Waddlers Ministry Guide our nursery caregivers will nurture and begin to introduce Christian formation in our youngest children in age-appropriate ways. Through songs, scripture, fingerplays, faith words and phrases and posters, young children will begin on their faith journey to learn, know and experience God and Jesus.
Preschool Two’s, Three’s and Four’s through Grade 5 classes – Rejoice in God! Our new Deep Blue awe-inspiring United Methodist curriculum invites children to set sail on a grand adventure with exciting stories, science experiments, arts and crafts, music and active games. The Deep Blue Kids – Asia, Edgar and Kat – lead children through the Bible in a weekly 3 minute 3D and 2D animated video that tells the story through the kids’ point of view. All this and more combines in a living-faith experience that helps children discover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ today.
Read more about our program in the Children and Youth Church School pamphlet and the ABC’s of Children in Worship.
Middle School for grades 6-8 use the Claim the Life curriculum. Each week we look at a key word and and invite our students to develop “deeper understanding, new appreciation and greater meaning for their lives” by understanding how that word is a part of their faith journey.
High School for grades 9-12 will be using creative lessons designed to help youth understand how Biblical passages can connect to their lives today.
