If you have not filled out a registration form for your child for Sunday School please do so! We want to make sure to have contact information on hand in case of an emergency. Ask Chelsea or one of the teachers for an extra form if you have not already filled one out.
YOUTH GROUP TONIGHT, 6:30 p.m.-8:15 p.m. – Sometimes you just have to show up and God will do the rest. Sometimes showing up is half the battle. Sometimes when you show up, you will be surprised by a friend you haven’t seen in awhile or someone will say something that reminds you of why you showed up. So tonight, just show up! And get ready to have lots of fun and watch God work.
CONFIRMATION BEGINS! – Tuesday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Rm. 222 all youth who are 7th grade and older, who have not been confirmed, are invited for our intro to Confirmation night. We will share pizza for dinner and talk about what it means to begin this journey of Confirmation.
GET READY TO SHOW US YOUR COOKING SKILLS! – Dust off your Chili recipes and prepare to compete in the St. Matthew’s UMC Chili Cook Off!!!! This is a fair warning! If you have a winning chili recipe, get ready to bring it to the Cook Off. Applications are available today in the Narthex; ask Ray Denmark or Jay Puffenbarger for a copy. The cookoff is Sunday, October 1, and applications to compete are due September 20. Place the completed applications in the manila envelope in the UMM cubby in the Cloakroom.
CLARINET, CELLO, & PIANO – OH MY! – On Tuesday evening, September 26th @ 7:30p.m., Erin Snedecor (cello), Jan Murphy (clarinet) and Bob Boguslaw (piano) will present a recital of classical and contemporary music, including a bit of jazz and a tango. Don’t miss works by Johannes Brahms, Phyllis Tate, Huguet y Tagell, and Andy Firth. This concert will take place in the sanctuary, and as always is free and open to the public. Come one, come all!!!!
CALLING ALL HANDBELL RINGERS – Interested in learning how to ring handbells? If you are one of those people who have always wondered about being part of a handbell ensemble, here’s your chance. A minimum of 8 people is needed to form a new group. No previous experience is required. See Isaac for details!
KERYGMA CLASS POSTPONED – The Sunday morning class in Rm. 222 to be taught by Rev. Carol Miller and both Kerygma classes for Monday to be taught by Rev. Rick Miller are being postponed. Be on the lookout for more information but we are hoping to begin both of these classes after Christmas.

BOOK CLUB – The monthly Christian Book Club will meet for its first time this year on TUESDAY, September 19 at 7 o’clock in Room 125. The book this time is Karen Armstrong’s St. Paul: The Apostle We Love to Hate. Isaac has copies for purchase, or you can order via Amazon. The book for the October 17 meeting is Rabbi Michael Barclay’s Sacred Relationships: Biblical Wisdom for Deepening our Lives Together. All are welcome. Watch this space for details of future books!
