SAVE THE DATE! – On Wednesday, October 11th from 11:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m., families with young children are invited for story time with Chelsea! Bring your lunch as we have a picnic in the garden while reading a few stories and then playing on the playground. Come and meet new friends from the EEC. Rain plan is inside in Fellowship Hall.
YOUTH GROUP SERVES! – Tonight we will assemble lunches to be delivered for Lighthouse Shelter to serve tomorrow. Come put your hands to work as live out our call to service and we talk more about our experiences at Pilgrimage and how we are called to extend love to people experiencing homelessness. Group meets from 6:30-8:15.
CHILI COOK-OFF IS CANCELLED – Due to an insufficient number of entrants, the UMM Chili Cook-off has been cancelled for now.
INTERESTED IN BECOMING A MEMBER OF ST. MATTHEW’S? – Join Pastor Daniel and Isaac TODAY at 9:45 a.m. for our New Members Class. The class will take place in Room 222 and will continue for 5 weeks. At the end of class, you will have the great joy of being a full member of St. Matthew’s UMC.
- MATTHEW’S MUSICAL THEATRE TROUPE –Ticket sales begintoday in Fellowship Hall after each service for “Steel Magnolias”. Concerned with a group of gossipy southern ladies in a small-town beauty parlor, the play is alternately hilarious and touching. The shows are in Fellowship Hall, and will be held onOctober 13, 15, 20, 21, and 22. The times for the shows are 7:30 pm for Friday and Saturday nights, and 3:00 pm for the Sunday performances. Ticket prices are $8.00 in advance and $10.00 at the door.
HURRICANE EFFORTS CONTINUE! – On Saturday, October 7th, we will be assembling 100 flood buckets as part of our church wide day of service. We are in need of one specific item. Please drop off in the coat room in the box marked Hurricane Donations by Tuesday, October 3rd, so we can see what is still needed for purchase. Please bring 50 oz. liquid laundry detergent, HE or regular.
STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN CONTINUES – We showed great presence at our first Annual Report Dinner with about 125 people. Today we will be discussing Service. The Stewardship Committee is challenging everyone to participate in the Service Day here at the church on October 7th from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Please sign-up here https://goo.gl/forms/cN6bRSjxSHuvqlOz2, or call the church office if you plan to attend. Come for one hour or all three.
BIG IMPACT with a small commitment: Are you looking for a way to serve your church family that fits your schedule? Join us for an informational luncheon on Sunday, October 8, at 12:30 p.m.where we will share how you can help during Sunday worship services. Learn more about what it means to be an usher, greeter, reader, communion assistant or acolyte. Childcare will be provided during the luncheon. To make your reservation, please follow this link: https://goo.gl/forms/3MpLR936Ou9Qgy132. If you have questions, ask Christin and Pam.
SWEATSHIRT REMINDER – Congratulations, you’ve done it again! The last I checked there was only one name left for a sweatshirt. This is just a reminder to bring your wrapped sweatshirt with the child’s name securely attached to the outside and place it in the box in the narthex or in the church office no later than Sunday, October 15th. Thank you so much for your quick response and St. Matthews generosity. You’re the best!
PHOTOGRAPHERS/VIDEOGRAPHERS WANTED – An on call team of photographers/videographers is being set up for people to document the many events coming up. You can take pictures or short videos on your phones to post. We’ll take your phone pics and vids and help get them on our website and social media. We also have point and shoot and video cameras for folks to use. Training will be provided. Please contact George Wood at 301-262-5835or firstname.lastname@example.org.
