CHILDREN & YOUTH
YOUTH GROUP TODAY – Youth Group is cooking for the men’s shelter! Come to the kitchen from 3p.m.-5 p.m. as we prepare dinner for 35 hungry guys. All youth are invited to cook! All youth who are 16 or older are invited to help deliver and serve the meal, and should be back to the church around 7 p.m.
NEW OPPORTUNITY TO PARTNER WITH TULIP GROVE – If you are interested in volunteering with Tulip Grove as a Homework Helper and have not contacted Chelsea, please do so this week or next. The group is going to get fingerprinted and cleared to volunteer on Thursday, December 7 at 2 p.m. and we would love to have you come. Serving as a Homework Helper is a great way for us to engage with the Bowie community outside our walls and share some love with the elementary students!
SAVE THE DATE – The youth mission trip with Appalachian Service Project will be July 29- August 4. All youth who have graduated 8th grade (by summer) are invited to come. This trip is also open to college students. There will be an information meeting after Christmas, but if you know you are in, let Chelsea know now!
ORGAN RECITAL – It’s November, and that means it’s time for a Recital in the Sanctuary. Join us today at 4 p.m. for an hour of music and fun. This time, there will be organ, guitar, voices, recorders, hurdy-gurdy, viol da gamba, and guitar! We will end with an anticipation of the Christmas Season, which is just around the corner. As always the program is free, although an offering to support the music program will be taken. Refreshments will be served immediately following the program!
INTERFAITH THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICE will be held here this Wednesday, November 22 at 7:30 p.m.
UMW REMINDER – All UMW members are reminded that the election of the 2018 officers will be held Saturday, December 2 at 10 a.m. in room 222.
CHRISTMAS PROJECT FOR BOWIE FOOD PANTRY – Soccer balls, basketballs, footballs, kickballs, hats, gloves, and scarves are needed so that the clients of the Bowie Food Pantry can “shop” for Christmas gifts for their children. Please pick up a card or two on the table in the narthex and return items to the church unwrapped no later than Sunday, December 3. Please put them in the specially marked boxes in the narthex. For more information, please contact Barbara Haddock.
FINANCIAL PLANNING AND REMINDER – With the stock market at record highs, some parishioners may find it advantageous from a tax planning perspective to fulfill their pledges by transferring appreciated stock. If you are interested in this option, in order to properly receive and credit your gift, please contact Dick Baker. Also, as you make your year-end contributions, please remember that checks must be received at the church by December 29, 2017. If received after that date, they will be credited in 2018 (regardless of the date on them).
