CHILDREN, FAMILY AND YOUTH
YOUTH ON MOTHER’S DAY– The youth would like to say a special thank you to all of our moms! There is no Youth Group or Confirmation today so that we can spend time with our families.
FILL THE ARK! NEXT SUNDAY! – Next Sunday, May 21st, bring your offering for Heifer International to worship and/or Sunday School. We will place these offerings in a special ark that will be placed up front in the Sanctuary as we celebrate the gift of creation and our total offering.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS – Do you love to decorate? Do you love leading small groups of kids? We are looking for just a few more volunteers to complete our VBS team. We can especially use people to put together and hang decorations, and to be teacher assistants as our kids rotate between stations. Let Chelsea know if you are able to join the team!
SUMMER MISSION OPPORTUNITES FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS – This summer our youth are taking two trips. The first is into DC to work with Pilgrimage from June 15-17th. The second trip is with Appalachia Service Project traveling to Kentucky from July 16-22nd. There are still openings for both youth and adults on both of these adventures. Let Chelsea know if you able to join!
CHESAPEAKE CHORALE CONCERT – On Saturday, May 20th at 8:00 p.m., come out and enjoy an evening of “Lyrics and Music” presented by the Chesapeake Chorale. The show will be followed by light refreshments.
A FOND FAREWELL – Please join us next Sunday, May 21st, between the two worship services (9:45 a.m.-10:45 a.m.) in Fellowship Hall, as we thank Sharon Heidenreich for her years of service to St. Matthew’s as our Office Administrator. The celebration will include light refreshments (including cake!) and a card for all to sign. Let’s join together in giving Sharon a loving send-off.
PLEASE HELP A GUATEMALA CHILD – On May 28th, you can become a prayer partner and provide a donation to purchase a library book in honor of your child. Look for information in the Midweek Messenger and Circuit Rider. Please contact Marian Eisinger at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
We will be honoring our graduating seniors at both services on Sunday, June 11th. All graduating seniors are invited to attend for a special recognition. Please submit names of graduates from high school, college and grad school to Shameka in the church office (301-262-1408) or email@example.com by Sunday, May 28th.
BOWIEFEST IS ON THE WAY – Bowiefest is on Saturday, June 3rd. We will need volunteers from 8:30 a.m. to about 7 pm. Typically we try for 2 to 3 hour shifts with 2 to 3 people in the booth at all times. Please contact George Wood at (301) 262-5835 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and scheduling.
EMAIL ALERTS: It has come to our attention that not all of you are receiving the Midweek Messenger and Circuit Riders. While we originally thought that this was a problem limited to Verizon emails, we have found this to be incorrect. In fact, several email carriers have been affected. While we investigate and try to correct this issue, we ask that you please notify the church office to let them know if you have not been receiving the emails. In the meantime, if you would like to have the Circuit Rider mailed directly to you, please let the church office know. To contact the office, please email email@example.com.
ELECTRONIC GIVING – If you would like to make today’s offering using our electronic giving service, please refer to the ELECTRONIC GIVING CARD that is located in the pocket of the pew rack in front of you. This card provides instructions for the use of our On Line Giving and Giving by Text services. Both services can be used for a one time gift or recurring gifts. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR GIFT.
