CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES
YOUTH GROUP – Tonight’s youth group is all about why do we do what we do? Why is youth group, church, etc. important? What do these times do for us individually and as a whole group? Meet at 6:30 p.m. in the narthex!
YOUTH RETREAT – This year’s youth retreat is to Camp Pecometh located on the Chester River, not too far on the other side of the Bay Bridge. All youth (6th-12th grade) are invited for a weekend away, March 24th -26th. The cost is $50 and registration forms can be found on the door of Chelsea’s office. Turn in registration by March 12th!
CONFIRMATION BEGINS on March 12th following the 11:00 a.m. worship service. If you or your youth (7th grade or older) are interested in attending and have not already spoken to Chelsea, please do so! All confirmation attendees should have received an email this week with more details. Let Chelsea know if you have any questions.
EASTER IS COMING – Are you looking for something for an Easter basket? Stop by the Fair Trade table in Fellowship Hall after either worship service today. Easter items you can order from the SERRV catalog include cross pendants, wooden Easter eggs, crocheted bunnies and more.
SAVE THE DATE – ST. MATTHEW’S GOES TO THE MOVIES! Whether you have read the book or just love watching movies, join us in the afternoon NEXTSunday, March 12th for a viewing at the Bowie theater of “The Shack.” The time will be announced later this week, via Facebook and the Mid-Week Messenger, once the theater announces the weekend times!
FAMILY BOWLING AFTERNOON – Join us at Crofton Lanes for an afternoon of bowling on March 19th from 2:30 -4:30 p.m. RSVP’s needed by March 12th and cost is $5 per person. Go to https://stmatthewsfamilybowling.eventbrite.com to register online. This is a great time to get to know other kids and parents outside of a worship setting.
LENTEN CLASS FOR ADULTS – “Roll Down, Justice” – Join this Lenten class led by Chelsea beginning NEXT Tuesday, March 14th at 7:00 p.m., in Room 126 and continuing on Tuesdays of Lent. This class will be a time for us to use hymns, scripture and the community of a small group to think about how God is calling us to live out our call of Micah 6:8 to do justice. There is no reading required; simply come and receive.
SOUP, SALAD, LENTEN SPIRITUAL PRACTICE AND SIMPLE PRAYER – Through Lent beginning with Wednesday, March 8, we will gather for a full night of community. We will begin with dinner from 6:00 – 6:45 p.m. in Fellowship Hall sponsored by the UMW Circles. Following dinner we will explore a different spiritual practice as a group from 6:45 – 7:30 p.m. and have Simple Prayer from 7:30 -8:00 p.m. Children are invited to join as many of the sessions will be interactive including movement, prayer through painting, music and reflection.
WEDNESDAY MID-DAY PRAYER THROUGH LENT – Would you like to get to Simple Prayer but evenings are difficult for you? Wednesdays through Lent, join us in the Sanctuary for a short mid-day prayer time beginning at 12:15 p.m. This service will be simple but a great time to take a few minutes of quiet and to “center” in the middle of the week.
