CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES
YOUTH GROUP tonight will involve a field trip to the Crofton Bowling Lanes. We will meet at the church at 6:30 p.m. and return by 9:00 p.m. Bring $5 to help offset the cost of lanes. Don’t forget to bring a friend! Setting the bar low, let’s see if we can all break the score of 100!
CONFIRMATION PARENT/GUARDIAN meeting NEXT Sunday, January 22, 12:00 p.m. Eighth graders (and those older who are not confirmed) and their parent(s) or guardians(s) are invited to join us in Fellowship Hall, for pizza and conversation about what Confirmation is and what our schedule will look like this year. Please bring your calendars with you and let Chelsea know if you plan to attend.
SAVE THE DATE – Saturday, February 18, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. for Family Movie Night! Pizza for dinner, a whole family game in Fellowship Hall, and a movie in the Sanctuary. What more could you ask for? Kids are welcome to bring sleeping bags and pillows to stretch out in the Sanctuary for a night of family fun!
THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE – Throughout January we will be focusing on where we see the light of God in one another, around St. Matthew’s and in the world. We will explore how God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. On the blue piece of paper in your bulletin share where YOU saw the light of GOD this week, then place that slip in the offering plate during the offering. These slips will be displayed in the main hallway as we celebrate the many ways that God’s light is revealed to us!
REMINDER: The deadline for the February 2017 Circuit Rider is TODAY, January 15, 2017.
Jesus and His Jewish Influences will begin TODAY in Room 126 taught by Jim Wiedman. For anyone interested in understanding the profound effect Jesus had on the world, it’s important to realize that his actions and teachings didn’t emerge from a vacuum. Rather, they were the product of a fascinating dialogue with—and reaction to—the traditions, cultures and historical developments of ancient Jewish beliefs.
