CHILDREN & YOUTH
YOUTH GROUP TONIGHT! BE BOLD, AND BE A GOOD HUMAN! Have you already broken your New Year’s Resolutions? You don’t have to be perfect to do the right thing. Come as we explore some crazy bold leaders in the Bible and how they pulled it together during rough times and did the right thing.
PROJECT TRANSFORMATION BOOK DRIVE– Drop off new or gently used children’s books (Grades 1-6) in the narthex now until February 4. Project Transformation is a summer literacy program for kids, partnering churches and college students with kids for summer programming. We are partnering with the site in DC. Before we can volunteer, and their summer begins, they are in need of lots of books! The hope is at the end of each week, every child will be able to take a book home to begin to build their personal library and keep reading long after the program!
2018 GUATEMALA MISSION TRIP– There will be two information sessions held: Wednesday, January 24 at 7:30 p.m. in room 125 and the other in between services on February 4 in the Parlor. The trip is June 30- July 7 and the estimated cost is $1500. We will be working with Impacto Ministry again. Email Marian Eisinger at firstname.lastname@example.org or Chelsea Spyres at email@example.com for more details or to join the trip!
GRAB YOUR GLOVES. IT’S TIME TO PLAY BALL – Join us TODAY in Fellowship Hall following the late worship service for a light lunch and a discussion about organizing a softball team to compete in the Bowie Interfaith Softball League. Two things to consider—it’s slow pitch and it’s co-ed. Also, you don’t need to be a pro to play. For more information, please contact Ray Denmark at firstname.lastname@example.org or (301) 651-3643.
GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP – St. Matthew’s will offer a grief support “class” on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. beginning Tuesday, January 23 and running until March 13 in room 226. If you find yourself wondering how to deal with the loss of a loved one, even a pet, consider joining Isaac for a weekly opportunity to share, learn, and be supported in a confidential setting. So that we can order enough materials for everyone, please let the office know by January 20 if you would like to participate.
BIBLE STUDY – Beginning on Tuesday, January 23, the Tuesday Morning Bible Study will begin discussion on The Letter to the Hebrews. Please join us as we undertake reading, learning and discussing this often neglected book of the New Testament.
Class begins at 9.45 in Room 126.
ELECTRONIC GIVING – If you would like to make today’s offering using our electronic giving service, please refer to the ELECTRONIC GIVING CARD that is located in the pocket of the pew rack in front of you. This card provides instructions for the use of our On Line Giving and Giving by Text services. Both services can be used for a one time gift or recurring gifts. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR GIFT.
