Support our Troops (SUPPOURT)

Support Our Troops (SUPPOURT) is a church-wide effort to reach out to active duty military and their families in our congregation and in our community.  These are some of the ways our members have been involved in supporting our troops:
  • Volunteers at St. Matthew’s have been putting together 6×9 crocheted or knitted rectangles to assemble into warm and cozy afghans for the Handmade Afghan Project.
  • Operation Welcome Home Maryland has the awesome task of welcoming troops to BWI.
  • The Semper Fi Fund has been helping injured military members of all branches for the past five years, and we will be helping to support their efforts with the sale of a cookbook later this year.

SUPPOURT (Support Our Troops) will be supporting active duty military and their families with cards and care packages as requested.  We’ve already sent out toiletries and books to a platoon of 60 men and women in a remote area of Afghanistan!
