Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is offered every summer during the month of July. Each summer, the program is centered on a theme, which is reflected in the Bible stories, worship, activities, songs and crafts in which the children participate. “Operation Overboard:
Dare to Go Deeper With God
July 23 – 27, 2012 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.
For: Preschoolers who were age 3 by Sept. 1, 2011 (and potty trained) through Seventh Graders (Fall 2011)
In this action-packed adventure, kids will journey below the ocean’s surface with a Dive Chief and Submarine Captain to the ocean floor where eels and octopi play. Through interactive lessons that are easy for kids to apply to their lives today, they will “go deep” into God’s word exploring Bible stories of people who revealed deep faith by knowing how to:
Depend on God,
Dare to Care,
Claim Jesus,
Choose to Follow and
Change the World.
Come discover ocean “secrets”, make age-appropriate crafts, play games, sing songs that flow from the lessons and…
learn to trust a God whose love is bigger than the sea.
New: “Mommy or Daddy and Me” from 6:30-7:15 p.m.
In “Mommy or Daddy and Me” children who were 2 years old by Sept. 1, 2011 and are too young to enroll in VBS will sit with parent/guardian/grandparent during the opening assembly at 6:30 p.m. After the assembly you journey to a special room to hear and experience the Bible story together. At 7:15 p.m. you’re on your way home. Enter adult and child name on registration form.
REGISTRATION: Early registrations due by May 31.
We want your child to have the best Vacation Bible School experience possible. To do this we need you to register your child(ren) by the early bird deadline, May 31. This will help us have the ideal student to teacher ratio and have curriculum, craft supplies, snacks, name tags and everything else ready for your child. There is no registration fee, so registering early allows us to shop sales, etc. Our volunteer teachers, helpers and VBS Directors Team greatly appreciate your cooperation! Registrations accepted as classroom space permits.
Registration forms have been mailed to families and are available in the narthex at St. Matthew’s and on the church website www.stmatthews-bowie.org. Please register no later than June 30 to assure a place, name tag and supplies for your child.
In July registrants will receive a letter by mail to confirm your VBS registration. Your confirmation letter must be presented at VBS check-in on July 23, 2012 where each family will receive your VBS CD-Rom with VBS songs.
