Confirmation Class Service Project
Bowie Food Pantry Drive - May 2007
St. Matthew’s 2007 Confirmation
Class chose heading up a canned food drive for the Bowie Food
Pantry as their service project.
Summer is one of the toughest times for the Food Pantry. The
Pantry serves a greater population when school is out.
Parents have to provide breakfast and lunch. With the seasonal
decline in donations to the Pantry, the summer need is greater than
ever.
The class announced the food drive
to our congregation and distributed plastic bags. The result
was over 175 bags of donated food. The photos below show
what happened on May 20. Members of the class transported the
donations to the Bowie Food Pantry (located in the Christian
Community Presbyterian Church) and stocked storeroom shelves.
